Sales: How to Expand Your Business with Government Contracts
September 26, 2008
Are you looking to expand your business?
Consider government contracts – local, state and federal. The government buys everything and anything. I know a retail delicatessen that is now doing catering at its local VA Hospital.
A famous fireworks display company received multiple contracts to make fake missiles used in target practice for the US Navy. A cosmetics distributor is now selling to the Army posts. And, the opportunities are abundant on the state and local levels too. Government at all levels is increasingly outsourcing for goods and services.
The best news is that most government contracts are now subject to rules requiring prompt payment. There are numerous organizations which can help you look for government contracts. Some are local, affiliated with your chamber of commerce, universities or economic development resources. Some useful web sites to look at: www.business.gov; www.sba.gov; www.fedbizopps.gov; www.usgovinfo.about.com; www.aptac-us.org.
